Asian elephants and their status in Nepal: a review

Wild Asian elephants (Elephas maximus) are one of the most endangered wildlife species in Nepal. Currently, there approximately 200 to 250 wild counted Of them, 15-20 Jhapa district, 17 KoshiTappu Wildlife Reserve, eight Sindhuli, and 45-50 Parsa National Park andChitwan Park. More than 100 Bardiya Parks adjoining municipalities, 25-30 Suklaphanta municipalities.Elephant conservation is challenged by habitat fragmentation, obstruction migratory routes human-elephant conflict. The governments Nepal, law enforcement, NGOs, local communities have made various initiatives conserve elephants. In paper, we outlined current status elephant population, its conservative efforts. This study may be a useful tool for scientific ecologists protect from extinction.
